I’m conducting research for my YA novel about a black Amerasian who survives the fall of Saigon and comes to America to find his father. Yesterday I interviewed a Vietnamese family that fled as Saigon was falling to the communists. I was also treated to a delicious meal of traditional food. I am very thankful to the Carizey family; for allowing me into their past and sharing a glimpse into what love and survival mean during war. Currently, I am looking for Black men who served during Vietnam, who would be willing to share their stories of deployment but also of returning to America. Please let me know if you have family or friends willing to share these stories. It could be via phone or in person…I like to travel!
